A many-faceted cultural life has long traditions in Suldal, and the municipal authorities have continually sought to foster a variety of cultural activities. The establishment of Suldal Cultural Centre reflects this priority.

The centre in Suldal is a cultural venue for the entire region – and that includes the nearby municipalities of Sauda, Vindafjord and Hjelmeland. The modern multi-function centre opened in 2002.

There is lots of varied activity at the Cultural Centre. In addition to a stage, there is a cinema, library, café and even a bowling alley. Visitors are welcome to use the free Wi-Fi, and to read newspapers in the lounge area.

Suldal’s Cultural Centre was the venue where municipality celebrated the dawn of the new millennium. The beautiful and practical amphitheatre was designed by sculptor Kristian Blystad. Built of limestone and wood, it was completed in July 2006; the premiere performance was a colourful historical play based on real 14th-century events in Suldal. The amphitheatre which seats 300 people is used for a variety of cultural events.
