New temporary exhibition
The exhibition tells us about the old sheepbreeds that the Vikings brought with them from Norway. There is wool, garn, and products from the whole north Atlantic area: Norway, Iceland, Shetland, Færøyene, Orkny Islands, Greenland, Ytre Hebridene and Isle of Man. Wool and sheep were important products to survive in these areas.
The exhibition will give you an insight in the keeping of sheep, wool production, textile handwork, and the link between sheepfarming and cultural landscape.
The artist Karin Flatøy Svarstad worked a lot with wool and had many courses in the North Atlantic area.
The exhibition is a cooperation with Suldal Husflidslag.
