Suldal supplies aluminium plants with renewable energy, is home to Northern Europe's largest hydropower development, and boasts several of Norway's largest water reservoirs, dams, and power plants. Collectively, Suldal currently accounts for approximately 8 percent of the country's total power production. The first power station was completed in 1916, Røldal Suldal Kraft was the biggest industrial project in Norway in the 1960s, Ulla Førre is the largest hydropower project in Northern Europe and the North Sea Link from Suldal connects Norway´s energy supply to the British one.
