Jelsa has been voted the most idyllic place in Rogaland by NRK's listeners, and is also one of the best-preserved coastal villages in Ryfylke. The village comes alive in summer with many tourists and visitors. In Jelsa, you can visit the unique Jelsa Church with its hand-painted starry sky, the school museum, and you can swim from the beach. They have a local grocery store and you'll find a petrol station in the area. There are several great cycling and hiking trails nearby.
