Børkjenes Gard is idyllically situated in Hamrabø, surrounded by scenic landscapes and a distinctive mountain farm environment. The farm spans from 280 to 1350 meters above sea level, from the courtyard all the way up to the mountains, and comprises a total of 40 buildings. These include a main house, a kårhus (traditional retirement house), a barn, a sheep house, a chicken coop, a storehouse (stabbur), a mill house, a grain drying house, a cable car house, a cart shed with wood storage, a smokehouse, a smithy, and a sawmill. Most of the buildings date back to the 19th century, but several houses and their stories extend even further back in time.
In 2023, the farm was awarded the Olavsrosa (St. Olav's Rose), a quality mark for outstanding experiences rooted in Norwegian cultural heritage. They also received Suldal Municipality's building preservation award in 2018 for their work in safeguarding Børkjenes' architectural heritage through numerous small and large restoration projects.
Their venues are suitable for groups of 20 to 120 people, with the barn accommodating 100-120 people and the cowshed 20-30. You can also use the outdoor areas in the courtyard. For those who wish, the gathering at the farm can also be combined with a hike in the surrounding moorland. The rental season for the barn is May-October. The cowshed can be heated.
In collaboration with local eateries, they can also offer catering with a focus on locally sourced ingredients.
