At the very end of Hylsfjorden lies Hylsstranda, which was once called Sølvkannestranda (Silver Jug Beach) due to the wealth generated by trade between east and west. Today, Hylen is home to one of the power stations in the Ulla-Førre complex, which in the 1980s was Northern Europe's largest hydropower development. The trip can be combined with a guided tour over the mythical Hylsskaret – an ancient route with many legends of huldra and subterranean beings – and concluded with a visit to Suldalshonning to taste authentic honey from mountain and fjord.
Suldalsvatnet has been a thoroughfare for hundreds of years, and today you can follow the road along the lake. Stop at Børkjenes Gard, one of the oldest farms in Suldal with over 40 buildings and a fascinating history – where they offer guided tours by appointment. Furthermore, you can visit Kolbeinstveit (Ryfylkemuseet), one of the large farms in Suldal from the 19th century, and make your way up to the crofter's farm at Røynevarden.
