Salmon Studio

The Salmon Studio at Sandsfossen opened in 1988. Here, you can look into the fifth step of the fish ladder, where 2,000–3,000 salmon and trout pass through every year. The exhibition tells the story of Salmo Suldal, the Suldalslågen river, and the hydroelectric development that made Suldal Norway's powerhouse.

Salmon tips

  • Visit during the salmon season, June–September, when the Salmon Studio is open.
  • See opening hours and prices in the "What's on" calendar.
  • Groups can book guided tours outside of regular opening hours during the season.

Combine your visit with the nearby Sandsfossen waterfall. For guided tours, contact us at suldal@visitsuldal.no.
