The municipal center Sand is an idyllic fjord-side village with a row of white wooden houses along the edge of one of the region's historically important transport routes: Sandsfjorden. Here you'll find a variety of great shops where you can get clothes, shoes, interior decor, gifts, fresh vegetables, and much more. You can also enjoy a good meal or a piping hot fresh pastry with coffee from the many cafes in the center.
You'll find a pharmacy, medical center, municipal building, museum, cultural center, water park, tourist information (summer season), and salmon studio (summer season) within walking distance of the center. In the town square, a range of fun activities are organized for the whole family, and there are market stalls with local products several times a month. The Garaneset industrial area houses a business park where you can find shops on the ground floor, including a bookstore, electronics store, furniture, cafe, and tools. There's also a petrol station with a fast charger for electric cars and other service shops nearby. Outside the summer season, you'll also find the tourist information on the second floor here, at the "Næringshagen i Ryfylke" (Business Garden in Ryfylke) office premises.
During summer days, larger events like Ryfylkedagane are organized. In winter, you can participate in a Christmas market and Christmas street opening. Information about activities and events can be found in the event calendar here on Visit Suldal.
Via the Facebook group "Sand i Suldal" and their website Shopping in Sand you'll get information about what's happening.
