Høsebrua

Høsebrua is one of the stops along the National Tourist Route Ryfylke, and is located right by Sandsfossen waterfall at the beginning of the Suldalslågen river in Sand. Crossing the bridge is a powerful experience, as you can both see and hear the mighty river roaring beneath your feet. In winter, the bridge illuminates the water majestically.

The bridge is built of steel, is 29 meters wide, and weighs 23 tons. It was designed by Rintala Eggertsson Architects, and features a construction with open and closed sections that provide a very exciting experience over the Suldalslågen river and Sandsfossen waterfall. The bridge won the "Bridge of the Year" award in 2014.

There's a beautiful hiking area on the hillside behind Høsebrua, and a visit to the bridge can be combined with an easy stroll along the river or a more challenging hike higher up Fiskebergåsen. Here you'll find great viewpoints overlooking Sand town center. An overview of hiking opportunities can be found under "Hiking" in the Sand hiking map.

Easily accessible: There are parking spaces approximately 100 meters from Høsebrua. The bridge is easily accessible for those using mobility aids such as wheelchairs and strollers, and you can also access the bridge itself. There is also a wide gravel path along the river on the other side of the river. Some sections have a few meters of incline.
