The Suldal salmon and rights to the river have been a source of disagreement and contention in the Suldal community for many centuries, and the case has actually been brought before the Supreme Court multiple times. At the mouth of the Suldalslågen river, you can visit what is Norway's oldest salmon studio. Here, during the summer season, you can watch salmon making their way up the salmon ladder at Sandsfossen as part of their natural migration from the sea to the river to spawn, and you can learn more about the history of the salmon. By scanning selected points in the studio, you will access a video or audio clip that offers a glimpse into the history.
