Diverse cultural scene at Nesasjøhuset

Nesasjøhuset is a restored boathouse that now serves as the main headquarters for Ryfylkemuseet's activities throughout the region. The building is charmingly situated by Hydrokaien in the northern part of Sand town center.

On the first floor, you'll find the museum shop where you can purchase local literature such as local history books, themed books, linseed oil products, and high-quality craft products. You'll also find a cozy café where you can buy something to drink and a bite to eat while enjoying the fantastic fjord view.

On the second and third floors, you can experience the following exhibitions:

The White Bear (permanent exhibition)

The White Bear is an interactive exhibition for children of all ages. Here, you can dress up as a king and queen, dance in the hall of mirrors, climb in the castles, and greet the White Bear himself. You can also listen to the exciting story of the children and the White Bear. The exhibition is inspired by a story by local author Rasmus Løland.

Traveling Exhibition

In the exhibition hall on the second floor of Nesasjøhuset, various exhibitions are held throughout the year. This way, there's always something new to experience at the museum! Information about the current exhibition can be found at ryfylkemuseet.no.

Good accessibility: Nesasjøhuset has a wheelchair-accessible entrance and toilets. The exhibitions are on the second and third floors, with a dedicated lift available for use as needed. There is ample space and good lighting in the exhibitions, shop, and cafe.
