Krossvatnhytta is a self-service cabin stocked with provisions and is accessible all year round. The cabin is unlocked. Please be aware that provisions may be low and bridges might be removed. It may be advisable to contact the Tour Centre at Stavanger Tourist Association if you are planning a trip outside of the season.
There are 16 fixed beds in the cabin, plus 12 extra loose mattresses in the loft. In the autumn of 2015, a new emergency shelter was built. Payment is made by filling out a payment authorization form found at the cabin, or by downloading the DNT app before departure.
Good hiking opportunities to ancient animal traps near Nøvletjørn and Leirdalen. Summit hikes to Nøvlenuten (1235 masl), Grønafjell (1414 masl).
Krossvatnet can be reached by a day's hike from Jonstølen, Stranddalen, or Vassdalstjørn. There is also a cairned route (not red-marked) from Krossvasskilane via Breiavahytta to Skreivassdammen at the northern end of Blåsjø. From here, there is a simple service road to Øvre Moen. (Avoid driving in if there is a risk of snow when you are returning home).
