The Pilgrim Route from Suldal to Røldal

In the Middle Ages, Røldal was one of Norway's most important pilgrimage destinations, second only to Nidaros Cathedral. The hike goes through beautiful terrain through Suldal.

Embarking on a pilgrimage is easy. Along the established pilgrimage routes, you can walk alone or with family and friends at any time. All churches are sacred, and thus a pilgrimage destination. By making one or more churches your destination, you can create your own pilgrimages and traditions.

The pilgrimage from Suldal to Røldal starts at Nesflaten, where you follow the signs from Engjaland to Botnen. In Mokleiv, a farm that was formerly part of Røldal church, they also regularly organize tours that include a visit to the famous Olavsseglet.
